Tomorrow 30/09 @ Odeon of Herodes Atticus: Manos Hadjidakis Concert
Manos Hadjidakis "Greece, the land of dreams and songs from the stage" | 30/09 - 20.00 - Odeon of Herodes Atticus
The work of the great Manos Hadjidakis continues to be (re)introduced to the public through a big concert that will be held at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on 30 September, conducted by Giorgos Hadjidakis. In the first part of the performance, the work “Greece, The Land of Dreams” will be performed for the very first time.
This music was written for a German documentary about Greece, directed by Wolfrang Mueller-Sehn (1960-1961). Motorbikes roamed through the plains and mountains of continental Greece, making a stop at Athens before the Aegean islands.
This work contains music improvisations, drawing on Greek songs.
The second part of the concert consists of four song cycles written for the stage, which later formed standalone pieces: “The Caucasian Chalk Circle,” “A Tale Without Name,” “Tonight We Improvise,” “Street of Dreams.”
Vocals: Eleonora Zouganeli, Dimitra Selemidou Orchestras: "Manos Hadjidakis Music Ensemble", "Athens Philharmonic Orchestra"
Conductor: Loukas Karytinos Artistic direction: Giorgos Hadjidakis
